January 2008 AEM Achieves CMMI Level III Certification
Congratulations to AEM's Navy Housing Program group in Chantilly, which has been appraised at Maturity Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). CMMI is the standard for benchmarking commercial and defense industry best practices for management and software engineering developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The Navy Housing Group achieved a Maturity Level 2 rating in 2004 and has been actively improving their software development business processes and practices since.
In January 2007, the group had four process areas assessed at CMMI Capability Level 2 or 3 during an interim appraisal. Building on the results of the January appraisal, the Navy Housing team has successfully achieved a Maturity Level 3 rating, spanning 17 different process areas (PAs), comprising all phases of the software development life cycle. The Navy Housing Program group's achievement of Level 3 is the 2nd for AEM—the AEM NSLDS Program group in Ballston was assessed at Level 3 in March, 2006.
