The early years of life are critically important in children’s development.
AEM is one of the largest providers of early learning support services to the U.S. government. We manage some of the largest federally funded early learning projects that are designed to improve program quality, access, and use of data.
Through these projects, we work closely with the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services to integrate disparate service delivery systems to support early learning for young children in 38 states. AEM offers specialized expertise in state-based early learning systems and the development of Early Childhood Integrated Data Systems, and supports professional development, provides training and technical assistance, and disseminates research-based publications.
Of particular note, over the last five years, AEM served as the prime contractor for Race to the Top - Early Learning Challenge and Preschool Development Grants. During a time of unprecedented investment, AEM assessed and developed technical assistance plans to guide grantees. We crafted and organized peer learning exchanges, webinars, communities of practice, informative products, and regular newsletter publications, and presented on best practices at national events. As a result of our collaborative work, we supported 20 states to enroll more than 1 million children in programs that meet state measures of high quality.
AEM is also a major teaming partner on one of the largest training and technical assistance centers for the Department of Health and Human Services. We offer professional development, provide training and technical assistance, and disseminate research-based publications that support healthy development and school readiness for Head Start/Early Head Start, state child care, and other early care and education settings.
